Help us teach machines to understand India's waste.
The Role
You will join our engineering team and work on real problems from our operations. Depending on your interests, this could include:
• Computer vision: building datasets, and training and testing models that identify waste.
• Apps and backend: building and testing the tools field teams use every day.
• Data: making sense of what our systems capture.
This is hands-on work with guidance from senior engineers. Expect messy real-world data, hardware that does not always behave,
and problems no textbook has an answer for.
Who we are looking for
• Final-year student or recent graduate in CSE, AI/ML or a related field.
• Comfortable with Python; some exposure to machine learning or app development.
• At least one project you built yourself and can talk through.
• Curious, honest about what you don't know yet, and happy to get your hands dirty.
How to Apply
Send your resume and a link to your GitHub with something you have built. In two or three lines, tell us what was hardest about it.
About Baeru
Most of us throw something away and never think about it again. Someone else does: the people who collect it, sort it and decide where it goes next.
Almost none of that work, and almost none of where waste ends up, is ever recorded. Baeru changes that. We work on the ground with the people who handle waste,
and we build the technology that turns their work into verified data that governments, brands and recyclers can act on. Garbage is where we work. Proof is what we build.
Our work and climate
Plastic that escapes collection ends up in rivers and the sea, and the coastal communities who clear it carry the cost. Baeru recovers ocean-bound plastic and builds the data that shows where waste actually goes, from coastlines to cities, so governments and brands can act on verified numbers instead of estimates. To date we have diverted over 50,000 tonnes of ocean-bound waste and avoided 12,000 tonnes of CO2e.
