About the Job

Why this role exists

C-DISC is building and scaling a new generation of construction systems, including PEN Foundation, light-gauge steel framing (LGSF), EPS 3D panels, TEB/PEB and other light-steel building systems, precast components and modular construction. We need an architect who can move beyond conventional design habits, understand how these systems behave, and convert strong ideas into coordinated, repeatable and site-ready solutions.

Load-bearing contribution

You connect design intent with technical and field reality. Your contribution ensures that architecture, structure, foundation, envelope, services, fabrication and installation work as one solution. The result should be sustainable construction that is architecturally compelling, commercially practical, scalable and buildable.

What you will own

• Develop concept designs, space plans, elevations, 3D models, presentation drawings, working drawings and construction details for residential, hospitality, institutional, commercial and modular projects.

• Design with alternative construction systems from the outset, including LGSF, EPS 3D panels, TEB/PEB and light-steel structures, precast components, modular assemblies and PEN Foundation.

• Translate system constraints into better architecture by considering grids, spans, module sizes, transport limits, erection sequence, tolerances, interfaces and future expansion at concept stage.

• Integrate PEN Foundation and other in-house R&D technologies into layouts in coordination with structural, geotechnical, R&D and project teams.

• Prepare coordinated architectural packages, schedules, material specifications, quantity inputs and issue-ready drawing sets with disciplined revision control.

• Coordinate with structural, MEP, production, procurement, vendors, fabricators and site teams so design decisions remain buildable, cost-aware and executable.

• Visit sites, participate in surveys, prototypes and mock-ups, and close the feedback loop between drawing, manufacturing and installation.

• Build reusable design standards, component libraries, typical details and BIM/CAD templates that improve speed and consistency across projects.

• Support client presentations and technical discussions by clearly explaining the design logic, system choice, sustainability value and practical trade-offs.

• Work with the R&D team on new modular and sustainable systems, documenting assumptions, test feedback, design revisions and lessons for future projects.

What we need

• B.Arch or M.Arch degree, with at least one year of relevant professional experience.

• A portfolio demonstrating architectural thinking, planning ability, technical detailing and progression from concept to buildable output.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp, with working knowledge of Revit/BIM or comparable architectural design tools.

• Sound understanding of construction detailing, materials, building envelopes, waterproofing, services coordination and site execution.

• Curiosity about how things are manufactured, assembled, transported and installed, not only how they appear in a render.

• Ability to work through ambiguity, learn unfamiliar systems quickly and improve the brief through thoughtful questions.

• Clear communication, reliable documentation and confidence coordinating across architects, engineers, fabricators, clients and site teams.

• Comfort in a startup environment where priorities can move quickly but safety, technical accuracy and drawing discipline cannot.

Good to have

• Firsthand project exposure to LGSF, EPS 3D panels, PEB/TEB or light-steel buildings, prefab, precast, dry construction or modular systems.

• Experience with design for manufacture and assembly (DfMA), shop-drawing coordination, prototyping or vendor-led system integration.

• Working knowledge of NBC requirements, local development regulations, fire and life safety, accessibility and approval coordination.

• Experience with Enscape, Lumion, Twinmotion or equivalent visualization tools.

• Interest in passive design, material efficiency, embodied carbon, lifecycle performance and climate-responsive architecture.

• Exposure to parametric design, BIM automation, AI-assisted design workflows or digital fabrication.

What success looks like in the first 90 days

• Build working knowledge of PEN Foundation, LGSF, EPS 3D panels, light-steel and modular systems, including where each is appropriate and where it is not.

• Take at least one project from concept or inherited drawings to a clear, buildable architectural package with cross-functional inputs resolved.

• Show that foundation, structural grid, envelope, services, manufacturing and installation have been considered before design freeze.

• Create or upgrade reusable details, component libraries, checklists or templates that reduce repeat work and correction cycles.

• Use site, prototype or production observations to improve at least one detail, material decision or coordination workflow.

Non-negotiables in this role

• No drawing is treated as complete if the load path, interfaces, installation sequence, services or weatherproofing remain unresolved.

• No unverified technical, sustainability, cost, performance or timeline claim is shared with a client or external partner.

• No drawing is issued without clear dimensions, revision status, coordination and the required technical review.

• No aesthetic decision overrides safety, statutory requirements, maintainability or buildability.

• No silent assumptions. Raise conflicts early, record decisions and identify the responsible owner.

• Site reality outranks the model. When actual conditions contradict an assumption, the design must respond.

Culture signals we will look for

• You are excited by unfamiliar construction systems and willing to learn from engineers, fabricators and site installers.

• You challenge conventional solutions while remaining rigorous about evidence, codes, safety and detailing.

• You move with urgency because you prepare well, document clearly and follow through on commitments.

• You can zoom out to the full project outcome and zoom in to a connection, junction or tolerance that could decide whether it works.

• You treat every contributor as part of the design intelligence, from the client and engineer to the factory and site crew.

Growth path

Architect to Senior Architect, System Integration Lead or Design & Technology Lead, depending on performance, technical depth, project ownership and the company’s stage of growth. As the team grows, the role can expand into leading architectural delivery and building C-DISC’s design language for modular and sustainable construction.

About the Company

Overview

CDISC -Technologies Pvt Ltd (Center for Development of Innovative & Sustainable Construction Technologies) is a Calicut-based deeptech construction startup transforming the built environment through sustainable, prefabricated, and modular solutions. Founded by civil engineer Er. Jeesh Venmarath, CDISC is the innovator behind the PEN Foundation (Pre-Engineered Nail Foundation) and Modular Net Zero Energy (MNZE) Homes—two groundbreaking systems designed for speed, sustainability, and climate resilience. The PEN Foundation is a patented, tree-root-inspired technology that avoids deep excavation, preserves groundwater, and offers rapid deployment, making it ideal for sloped, remote, or ecologically sensitive terrains. MNZE Homes, on the other hand, are prefabricated dwellings embedded with renewable energy, smart automation, and water management systems, offering energy independence and the potential to break even in 15 to 25 years
