About the Job

PURPOSE

Urvara is building market infrastructure for nature and ecosystem services in India. This role turns that thesis into real buyer conversations, institutional demand, coalition momentum, and finance-relevant pathways.

This is not a pure partnership role. The mandate is to make nature financially legible enough that serious counterparties move from interest to commitment.

WHAT THIS PERSON WILL OWN

  • Corporate and institutional buyer pipeline across companies, investors, AMCs, and strategic partners.
  • Anchor relationships for early pilots, proof objects, coalition-building, and paid work.
  • Nature Positive Alliance and AMC demand formation, including HDFC / India Nature Action 100-style pathways.
  • Translation of NII, NVaR, Nature Ledger, and delivery packages into buyer-relevant propositions.
  • Early financial-instrument, blended-funding, entity-structure, and market-making pathways for nature.
  • CRM discipline, meeting preparation, follow-through, and conversion logic.

FIRST 90 DAYS

  • Pipeline - Build and prioritize a high-quality buyer and investor pipeline with clear next steps.
  • Conversion - Move warm relationships from broad alignment into scoped proposals, convenings, pilots, or paid engagements.
  • Narrative - Produce 2-3 demand narratives for corporates, investors / AMCs, and catalytic capital.
  • Structure - Help sharpen the 3-year roadmap and Section 8 / Pvt Ltd logic for investor and funder conversations.

WHAT GOOD LOOKS LIKE

  • Urvara has a visible demand pipeline with owners, next steps, and conversion logic.
  • Investor and corporate conversations become more specific, not broader.
  • The team can explain why nature matters in business, risk, and capital-allocation terms.
  • Serious counterparties see Urvara as a market-building partner, not just a conservation advisor.

IDEAL PROFILE

  • 5-10+ years across climate / nature finance, sustainability strategy, consulting, banking, investing, development finance, or enterprise partnerships.
  • Strong ability to move between strategic narrative and execution detail.
  • Credibility with senior stakeholders and excellent written follow-through.
  • Bonus: ESG investing, natural capital, blended finance, AMCs, standards, or India corporate sustainability.

NOT A FIT IF

  • You want a pure fundraising, policy, or relationship-manager role.
  • You prefer abstract strategy over owning a pipeline and closing next steps.
  • You are uncomfortable selling a category that is still being created.

SHARED BAR

  • Builder mindset: willing to create the first version of systems, not just operate mature ones.
  • High ownership: can turn ambiguity into priorities, documents, conversations, and shipped artifacts.
  • Strong writing: proposals, follow-ups, partner notes, specs, rubrics, and internal memos must be crisp.
  • Domain humility: can work across nature, business, finance, data, and field realities without pretending any one lens is enough.
  • Low-ego collaboration: the first team is small; everyone will sell, write, coordinate, and fix broken workflows.

Bottom line: build the first repeatable system, not just the first successful example.

About the Company

Overview

Urvara is a natural capital company working to conserve and restore 16 million acres in India over the next 20years by mobilising private capital into conservation. Not through philanthropy or CSR, but by making nature a real line item in how Indian companies account for what they take from the world.

Every business depends on nature: water, soil, forests, biodiversity, heat, and the physical systems that keep supply chains running. For decades, companies have treated that dependence as free. That is changing. Nature is landing on the balance sheet, faster than most people expect.

We are at the beginning of that shift. Nature Impact Index is our first proof product: a public benchmark of 525 Indian companies on their nature footprint. Now we are building the action layer: Nature Related Value at Risk, delivery pathways, and the team that can move private capital into conservation in ways that make business sense.
