The role
Young people care about climate. Most never get a real way in.
You will help build programmes that give them one: workshops, campus partnerships and the groundwork for our youth fellowship.
What you will do
• Plan and run workshops and sessions with colleges and youth groups.
• Build relationships with student clubs, faculty and youth networks.
• Help design the fellowship: who it is for, what fellows do, and how we know it worked.
• Document everything: attendance, feedback, photos and stories.
Who you are
• You have organised something before (an event, a club, a campaign) and people showed up.
• You can talk to a principal and a first-year student on the same afternoon.
• You are organised: timelines, spreadsheets, follow-ups.
• You care about climate and culture, and you are curious about people whose lives look nothing like yours.
• Bonus: you speak Kannada, Tulu or Konkani.
Any degree. Show us what you have built.
How to apply
Send your resume and tell us, in under 150 words, about something you organised: what it was, who came, and what you would do differently next time.
About Baeru
Baeru works with the people who live closest to the waste problem: the women who collect and recover it, the fishing families who haul plastic out of the sea,
and the artists who put the story on stage. We run on-ground operations, livelihood training and culture-led campaigns like Beware of Plastic Asura,
our Yakshagana production about a demon made of waste, and we build the technology that turns all of this work into verified data.
Our work and climate
Plastic that escapes collection ends up in rivers and the sea, and the coastal communities who clear it carry the cost. Baeru recovers ocean-bound plastic and builds the data that shows where waste actually goes, from coastlines to cities, so governments and brands can act on verified numbers instead of estimates. To date we have diverted over 50,000 tonnes of ocean-bound waste and avoided 12,000 tonnes of CO2e.
