About the role:
As a founding Energy Sector Specialist, you will bridge the gap between our physics-informed AI models and the practical needs of the power grid. You will be the domain expert ensuring our "BioSky Energy Stack" provides actionable insights for generation, transmission, and distribution ecosystems. Your expertise in electrical engineering will be critical in translating complex geospatial data into stable grid operations and precise energy forecasting.
Your Responsibilities
● Collaborate with ML and EO (Earth Observation) teams to ensure AI-driven forecasts (irradiance, wind speed, cloud cover) are aligned with grid physics, terrain complexity, and India’s atmospheric dynamics.
● Define and monitor success metrics for forecasting, demand management, and grid analytics products — with a focus on reducing day-ahead and intra-day forecasting errors, improving dispatch, and lowering deviation penalties.
● Act as the primary technical liaison with utility-scale developers, SLDCs, transcos, and IPPs, ensuring successful pilot integration, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory compatibility.
● Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) on plant generation, pooling station load, forecast deviations, and grid constraints to generate actionable insights.
● Support vegetation and Right-of-Way (ROW) monitoring through satellite data analysis and risk mapping, helping reduce downtime and improve transmission reliability.
● Co-design grid analytics dashboards and real-time reporting layers showcasing accuracy, impact, and grid-side performance improvements.
● Contribute actively to business development efforts by providing technical insight in proposals, pitch discussions, and solutioning for enterprise clients.
● Represent BioSky in industry forums, working groups, and policy consultations, driving thought leadership through whitepapers, journal submissions, and external publications on forecasting, grid intelligence, and AI for climate infrastructure.
Experience and Must-Have Skill Sets
● 2–3 years of hands-on experience in the energy sector, specifically dealing with power systems or grid operations.
● Strong understanding of solar and wind generation profiles, intermittency challenges, and forecasting requirements.
● Proficiency in Python or R for data wrangling; familiarity with electrical simulation tools and SQL for managing large energy datasets.
● Strong knowledge of statistics and probability as applied to energy load and generation forecasting.
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Energy Engineering a closely related field. Good to Have
● Familiarity with the Indian renewable energy regulatory landscape and grid codes.
● Experience with Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) or aerosol-aware irradiance mapping.
● Ability to navigate ambiguity, wear multiple hats, and thrive in a "zero-to-one" environment.
What’s in it for You
● Industry-competitive compensation with a fixed salary plus founding-team member ESOPs.
● Autonomy to own the energy domain end-to-end within a deep-tech spacetech environment.
● Access to advisors from ISRO, IIT Delhi/Bombay, and global space agencies like SmartSat CRC.
● A flat structure with a rapid experimentation culture and world-class tech infrastructure.
