Hiring: Deputy Project Head / AGM | Renewable Energy Semiconductor Manufacturing | Chennai
We are partnering with a leading infrastructure and project management company driving India’s renewable energy transition to hire Deputy Project Head to be based in Chennai. The ideal candidate should be willing to travel to project sites as well.
Role overview:
The Deputy Project Head will act as the second-in-command to the Project Head and be responsible for driving end-to-end execution of utility-scale Solar, Wind, Hybrid, Substation, and Transmission Line EPC projects. The role will support project planning, execution, resource management, stakeholder coordination, cost control, and timely project delivery while ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Execution & Delivery
- Support the Project Head in managing multiple EPC renewable energy projects
- Drive project execution activities from mobilization to commissioning and handover
- Monitor project progress against approved schedules and budgets
- Ensure achievement of project milestones and Commercial Operation Date (COD)
Site & Team Management
- Lead and coordinate Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers, Contractors, and Vendors
- Conduct regular project review meetings and resolve execution bottlenecks
- Ensure optimum deployment of manpower, equipment, and resources
Planning & Monitoring
- Review project schedules, resource plans, and recovery plans
- Track critical activities and monitor project risks
- Coordinate with Planning teams to ensure adherence to project timelines
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Engineering, Procurement, SCM, Finance, QA/QC, and HSE teams
- Ensure timely availability of materials, equipment, and approvals
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, utilities, and statutory authorities
Commercial & Cost Control
- Monitor project budgets and cost performance
- Review subcontractor progress and billing
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization and productivity improvements
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with project quality standards and HSE requirements
- Drive a strong safety culture across project sites
- Ensure adherence to contractual obligations and company policies
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the key interface between site teams and senior management
- Participate in client review meetings and progress discussions
- Support resolution of commercial and technical issues
Leadership Responsibilities
- Act on behalf of the Project Head whenever required
- Mentor project teams and build execution capability across projects
- Drive accountability, performance, and project governance
Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline
- PMP/Prince2/Project Management certifications preferred
Experience
- 15–20+ years of experience in EPC, Power, Renewable Energy, Infrastructure, or Transmission projects
- Proven experience in Solar, Wind, Hybrid, Substation, or Transmission Line project execution
- Experience managing large multi-location project teams and contractors
