Responsibilities:
● Lead process design activities for municipal solid waste (MSW) to energy
projects involving compressed biogas production, boilers, and turbines
● Develop process design basis, flow diagrams, heat and mass balances for
MSW handling, gasification/combustion, and energy recovery systems
● Perform process simulations and modeling for MSW treatment, syngas
cleaning, biogas upgrading using tools like Aspen Plus
● Prepare feasibility studies, concept design packages, and detailed project
reports (DPRs) for waste-to-energy plants
● Size and specify key equipment like gasifiers, biogas upgrading units,
boilers, turbines, and auxiliaries
● Develop P&IDs, cause & effect diagrams, equipment datasheets and
other deliverables
● Coordinate with mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation teams
during design activities
● Review technical proposals, engineering drawings, calculations, and
vendor data
● Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and statutory
requirements
● Support hazard studies, risk assessments, and permitting activities
● May assist in project planning, scheduling (MS Project), cost estimation
and construction management
● Familiarity with MSW rules, environment regulations for power plants /
waste to energy plants.
Requirements:
● Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's preferred
● 4-10 years of relevant experience in waste-to-energy/biogas projects
● Strong understanding of MSW processing, gasification, combustion, and
energy recovery technologies
● Excellent technical report writing and communication abilities
● Familiarity with codes and standards for biogas plants, boilers, and power
generation
● Project management and leadership experience
● Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, knowledge of statistics, data
analysis
● Excellent data handling and visualisation skills and advanced knowledge
of spreadsheets
● Excellent spoken and written communication skills
● Excellent research and survey skills
● Ability to produce well-presented, error-free results.
